Horseshoe Garden Frog Meadow New England's Best All Male Gay Resort in Southern Vermont

Frog Meadow is located on the site of the Wheeler Farm, a 1700’s dairy farm and apple orchard that borders historic Newfane Village’s original mountaintop site atop Newfane Hill.

Our extensive perennial and annual gardens, varietal apple orchard, fruit and vegetable gardens are pollinated by our active beehives, butterflies, hummingbirds and bats who also call Frog Meadow their home.

In addition, owls, hawks, songbirds, wild turkeys, pileated woodpeckers, otters, deer, the occasional moose – and of course, our many species of frogs – share their wonderful habitat with our guests. We have identified over 100 different varieties of birds at Frog Meadow (including Tuvu, Tuti, Robin, Red-Eyed Vireo, Cedar Waxwing, Indigo Bunting, Chestnut-Sided Warbler, Tru Swallow, Thrush, Hawk, Chickadee, Crow, Raven, Goldfinch, Wren, Phoebe, Nuthatch, Hairy Woodpecker, Song Sparrow, Yellowthroat, Chimmney Swift, Pewee, Overbird, Chipping Sparrow, Winter Wren)!

Explore Frog Meadow’s gardens and plantings by taking a walkabout tour or relaxing on one of our many stone benches, Adirondack chairs, chaise lounges or the hammock by the swimming pond.

In early June our royal violet bearded irises put on an amazing display in the apple orchard…

A highlight of some of the things you’ll likely find in the gardens at Frog Meadow includes:

  • April & May: Daffodils, crocuses, tulips, lilacs and ornamental pear trees bloom, fiddlehead ferns, apple blossoms blooming, getting the bees set up for the garden season;
  • June: Bearded iris, daylillies & peonies bloom…just gorgeous! FRESH STRAWBERRIES & FRESH ASPARAGUS
  • July: Climbing hydrangeas in full bloom, the 10-foot tall hollyhocks are in full bloom mid-to late July FRESH STRAWBERRIES, FRESH RASPBERRIES
  • August: The annual and perennial gardens are at their peak FRESH BLUEBERRIES
  • September: Asters, hydrangeas, apples turn color, picking hydrangeas for drying.
  • October: Apple picking & cider-making, honey harvesting, leaves turning color for fall. FRESH APPLES & FRESH APPLE CIDER

Another Phenomenal Stay at Frog Meadow

My partner and I came to Frog Meadow for a quick weekend from Westchester County NY, It was so nice to return to a peaceful and serene area.

The grounds of the property are beautiful and very zen-like. We spent time sunning at pond, and enjoying the peacefulness of the property. Being at Frog Meadow as a returning Guest, you are treated as close family member. The gourmet breakfasts are phenomenal and incredible.

We stayed in the main house, in the spacious South Room, which had tons of space, an incredible housekeeping team, which delivered any request spontaneously. Dave and Scott are not only the amazing proprietors, but also family members to make sure your stay is absolutely perfect and incredibly restful.
