Hi all and welcome to Frog Meadow’s Blog. This is our first entry into the blogosphere. We will be posting videos and pics of fun stuff going around Vermont and at Frog Meadow Farm, musings, opinions, travel logs and more!
So this being April Fools Day I suppose gives me an opportunity to pull a fast one on you all (is anybody out there?) and say that Frog Meadow was just visited by a hoard of hunky aliens from the planet Zongo, or that Scott and I are going to be starting up an ex-ex gay retreat for reprogramming the minds of gay penguins who fell into the hands of right wing zoo keepers, but I’m not going to go there. Instead I will ramble a bit about this past winter and what’s coming up this spring.
First of all let me talk about this winter. We had a very snowy winter and that was a good thing! Scott and I got in 30 plus days of cross country skiing, Mostly right out our back door. And of course since we are an all male clothing optional kind of place we just had to go cross country skiing naked!! Here’s our You Tube Debut!! (Update: The video got yanked from You Tube for terms of use violations. I guess naked guys skiing was way too racy for someone!) Click here to see the video

OK, now that we have that silliness out of the way on to a more serious topic: Marriage Rights in Vermont. As some of you may know we are in the midst of another contentious debate here in Vermont. Back in 2000 Vermont was the first to grant most of the benefits and responsibilities (yes, there are responsibilities!) that come with marriage to same sex couples. Now Vermont is in the news again with our latest stab at full marriage equality. Our Governor Jim Douglas said that the Civil Union law is “sufficient” and that this debate distracts from the more important economic issues that face Vermonters.Well it just so happens that full marriage rights would benefit the economy in Vermont to the tune of at least $30,000,000! The folks up at Vermont Freedom to Marry asked us to submit written testimony to the Vermont state House and Senate Judiciary Committees sharing our thoughts and experiences on the subjest and how it affects our lives. You can read that testimony here: Scott and Dave’s Testimony Please feel free to give our Governor a call at 802-828-3333 or email Jim Douglas to let him know how you feel on this issue. So Scott and I are off to the BIG Island of Hawaii in 5 days! We will be closed until May 1! Stay tuned for pictures and videos from paradise!

What a wonderful debut! And such exciting news about Vermont.
I’m looking forward to following your blog!
Gentlemen,
I loved the naked cross-country skiing video. I’ve often thought of doing that myself, but seems it would be pretty rough on the tush if one were to go down on some icy spot…like one of the guys pictured.
My husband, Bob Walker, tells me that we will be seeing you in Hawaii next week. Looking forward to meeting you both. And to more blogs.
Also, if you guys do yoga, there is a gay men’s retreat at the Kalani Resort next week, and the man who’s leading it, Matt Meko of Mekosun.com, will be leading the open-to-the-public yoga classes. Check it out. And see you in Hawaii.
And congratulations on our victory in Vermont!
Ernie
